Thank You Police Officers

We want to extend our gratitude to all of the local and state law enforcement officers who responded on 3/29/23 to the incidents throughout the area.   Thank God it wasn't an actual active shooter incident.  It did, however, send a strong message that if such an incident should occur, local law enforcement is trained and will not hesitate to respond in full force.  As candidates for Penns Valley School Board, we give our COMPLETE support to having a law enforcement presence in our schools.  We welcome and pledge our support to the three new officers that were recently hired by the school district.  There is a need to be proactive in these situations.  Having a police presence is critical in an effort to keep our staff and children safe.  Now we, as a district, need to support training for our teachers to work with the school police officers (SPO).  We need to educate the public as to the roles and responsibilities of our SPOs.  We need to support on-going training for the officers.   Hiring the personnel was a crucial first step; now the real work begins.  As candidates, we understand that the hiring of these officers was just the beginning.  We pledge our support to these officers to provide whatever resources/training they need in an effort to create an environment where staff and students feel safe so that learning can occur.

It's time to act!

If we join together and make our voices heard, we can fight for the change we want to see!
